Open Source Environmental Monitoring

Protecting Our Planet One Node at a Time

The Parrot Project is a community-driven initiative designing and deploying remote environmental IoT monitoring devices across Australia. We believe in open-source solutions for a sustainable future.

Why Parrot Project?

We're building a distributed network of environmental sensors to monitor climate indicators, air quality, and ecosystem health. All data is open and accessible to everyone.

Open Data

All environmental data collected by our network is freely available to researchers, communities, and anyone who cares about our planet. No paywalls, no restrictions.

Open Hardware

Our device designs are completely open-source. Build your own sensors, modify them for your needs, or contribute improvements to the community.

Community First

This is a community-driven project. We welcome contributors of all skill levels—from hardware engineers to citizen scientists who want to host a node.

The Parrot Node

Our flagship monitoring device is designed to be affordable, durable, and completely open-source. Each node can operate autonomously for years on solar power.

  • Solar Powered Integrated solar panel with backup battery for continuous operation in any weather condition.
  • Multi-Sensor Array Temperature, humidity, air quality (PM2.5/PM10), UV index, and soil moisture sensors included.
  • LoRaWAN Connected Long-range, low-power communication that works even in remote areas without cellular coverage.
  • Modular Design Expand with additional sensors for specific applications like water quality or biodiversity monitoring.

Across Australia

Our network is growing. From coastal regions to the outback, Parrot nodes are being deployed to monitor Australia's unique environments.
